A paper about your family has to be careful with your family. Here is exactly what we keep, why, where it lives and who can see it. First in plain words, then in full.
In effect from 6 November 2026. If we ever change it, the date changes and we tell everyone on the list by email first.
Your email, and your town if you give it. That's the whole list.
No analytics, no ad pixels, no cookies. Even our fonts and pictures come from our own site.
The website can add your name to it, but it can't read it back. Nobody outside the paper ever sees it.
Right now the paper isn't printing for anyone outside the family yet, so the only thing we collect is the "Get on the list" box: your email, so we can write when there's a paper for you, and your town, if you add it, so we know which towns to start with.
We send one note to say you're on the list, then nothing until we have news about your paper. Reply "take me off" to any of our emails and you're off.
In a database that belongs to The Daily Perrigo alone, kept apart from everything else we run, on servers in the United States. It travels over an encrypted connection and is stored encrypted.
The list is locked. The website has one small key that can do exactly one thing: add a name to the list. That key can't read the list, change it or delete from it. We've tested that by trying.
The list is for grown-ups. If you're under 13, please ask a parent to sign up instead. If we learn a child under 13 has signed up, we delete it.
When households sign up for a real paper, you'll be able to tell us more (first names, birthdays, the week's schedule) if you want to, and none of it is required. Before that starts, this page will be updated to cover it, and these are the rules we're building to:
The Daily Perrigo ("the paper", "we") is a small, independent newspaper made in California. If it becomes a company, this policy will name it. Contact: hello@dailyperrigo.com.
This website, dailyperrigo.com, its waiting list, and the emails we send to people on it.
Only to tell you when the paper is ready for you, to answer you, and to decide which towns to open first. We don't use it for advertising and we don't make automated decisions about you.
A few service providers run parts of the site for us, under contracts that let them use the information only to provide their service:
| Provider | What it does | Sees |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website, and forwards email sent to our addresses | Visit information; emails you send us |
| Google (Gmail) | The inbox where emails you send us are read | Emails you send us |
| Supabase | Stores the waiting list (United States) | Email and town |
| Resend | Sends our emails to you | Your email address and the message |
We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines those words, and we never have. We will disclose information only if the law requires it.
Until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe. If we haven't opened the paper in your town within two years of your signing up, we delete your details and tell you.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it or delete it, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Email hello@dailyperrigo.com. We'll answer within seven days and act within the time the law allows, which is usually much less. We won't treat you any differently for asking. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California's "Shine the Light" law.
We don't track visitors across websites, and we don't allow anyone else to track you on ours, so a browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal is always honoured.
This site and its waiting list are for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it. When the paper itself launches, children's details will be provided only by a parent, with the parent's consent, and this policy will be updated before then.
The list is stored in a separate database used only by the paper, encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to the paper's own small team. The website's public key can add to the list but can't read it, and our database refuses every other request. No system is perfect: if we ever find that your information has been exposed, we'll tell you without delay, and within 72 hours of finding out.
Every email we send says who it's from, comes from a dailyperrigo.com address, and tells you how to unsubscribe: reply "take me off" and we remove you within a week. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and email everyone on the list before the change takes effect.
